Who is Brian Reid ?

Brian Reid was born in Warwick (Rhode Island, USA) in 1958.

At about the age of 5, without having the vocabulary yet to express it, Brian felt he was put here with a job – a mission to be accomplished. This intense calling was his light on the uncertain path during his young life, stimulating him to make important decisions and seek out for the best to guide him on his own way home from where he could complete his mission and finally create Horses Know The Way Home.

Looking back at his life so far, no matter how discouraged he felt at times, every single step he took and every single obstacle he passed all contributed to how he has developed every aspect of his being into who he is today. Because just as we all have our doubts, fears, weaknesses, habits or patterns that don’t seem to work for us, so does Brian. But instead of regretting things or trying to change his nature, he trained himself in recognizing and changing non-working patterns and find balance to ultimately create the life of his dreams. And on his path, one thing inspired him more than any other: a horse named Brenda Lee.

A unique and passionate Life Coach

Brian has always been known as a very energetic, motivational and creative personality with a true-born ability to touch and lift up others who meet him, get trained by him or work with him.

After his childhood, his leisure, studies and work were all focused on health and fitness. In YEAR he worked as a Fitness Director in a local health club in Warwick. Here he became aware of the need for mental and emotional fitness in addition to the physical fitness so that clients could be happy with themselves from the inside out. This also was the trigger to start a conscious self-reflecting journey and to study the world’s best programs in Personal Development and Life Coaching:

“I spent a three year sabbatical searching every available program, course or curriculum that was offered at the time. My personal journey took me down many paths and through many personalities, programs and principles. I participated in: A Course In Miracles, Alcoholics Anonymous, Co-Dependency, Adult Child Issues, Physical, emotional and sexual abuse therapies, meditation, relaxation, success and achievement courses. I studied in depth the programs and teachings of Abraham, Deepak Chopra, The institute of Noetic Sciences, Tony Robbins, Jack Canfield, Richard Tyre, Nightingale Conant and many more personalities, organizations and programs focused on personal achievement and success.”

After these intense years, Brian wanted to make all this knowledge practically available. He created the first Inner Fitness Center in the US to combine both physical and mental fitness at the highest quality possible. Driven by the desire to help individuals transform the quality of their lives, Brian unfortunately forgot to also take good care of himself while leading his flourishing company:

“I searched the world for the best, my search was in the field of personal growth and development. In the end I had exhausted my search and opened an Inner Fitness Center to make all these sources and courses available to the public in a health enhancing environment. Problem was, my accumulation and assimilation out weighed my practice and implementation fully to the benefit of my own health and happiness. You see, I had made a deal with God. If I could help enough people get better then maybe God would look favorably enough on me that I may be saved or helped. I saw the fallacy in this deal and decided that getting myself the help needed for me was the most important thing I could do and so began a life journey of personal growth practice for myself.”

Going back and applying the Personal Development Principles that he had learned, gave him such freedom and power that he started to create the life he wanted. His personal success and experience became motivational to others and soon he became a source of inspiration to many many more:

“I achieved much success as a Remodeling Contractor, Husband, Father, Bodybuilder, Motivational Speaker and Personal Trainer that others asked me to coach them for success in their chosen fields.”

The man with the Big Black Horse

In 1998, while running his Inner Fitness Center together with his residential remodeling business, Brian’s wife at the time was yearning to become a professional horsewoman. Her horse was standing all by himself in a 2 stall barn and several months later they decided to look out for another horse to give him the company he needed. Brian took this as an opportunity to share his wife’s passion and also to deepen himself into horses. He started to explore horse encyclopedia’s to find a matching breed for him to take care of. He remembered his own horse (Albert, an Arabian) he had for several weeks at the age of 19, and remembered how scared he was to hurt that beautiful fragile horse under the weight of his tall posture while riding; not knowing yet about Letting Go and Balance being the important keys to a soft ride. In addition to this, he felt that this new horse would not be “just a horse” but something larger than himself to lean on without being charged, to support him while being at this successful point in life. The first breed he came up with, was a Clydesdale. At a closer look, the first Clydesdale they went to see had some medical issues. So Brian continued his search and discovered more about the Shire breed. Even more attracted by their majestic appearance he found, in April 1998, a beautiful one year old Shire mare at Northeast Shires: Little Miss Dynamite or more commonly known as, Brenda Lee.

A Big Black Horse as a coaching partner

As Brian and Brenda Lee played together, he discovered that horses are “the most consistent examples of the message of Personal Development Principles” and that the natural laws that horses followed could greatly benefit humans. His relationship with Brenda Lee led him to re-discover his life’s dream and refine it to the core: he wanted to help others discover who they really are and more; he wanted to let others “Feel the Connection” with themselves in order to discover their unique potential, to find their bliss and what that meant for each individual.

Brian realized that when he used Brenda as a teaching tool, she delivered the message so simply, clearly and consistently, that people could change their lives in minutes instead of years:

“I started offering this to many clients from many backgrounds. Therapists, energy workers, leaders, managers, successful people who were stuck in a particular area. The results were awe inspiring. Brenda seemed to connect them to that which connects us all and the “Feeling of Connection” to themselves empowered them to see and move beyond their blocks like nothing I could have imagined offering in such a short time frame. The horse had no story , personality or Ego to be concerned with, just to offer connection to themselves, the horse and others.”

This is when he was inspired in YEAR to create Horses Know the Way Home.

The birth of Horses Know The Way Home as a 24/7 “on-line experience”

The creation of this unique online learning program follows a lifelong journey of experiences, study, gaining wisdom, making connections and most of all: focusing on “what feels good”. Brian is not only the creator, but is the living example of what Horses Know The Way Home stands for.

Brian’s insights to simplify the natural laws and principles as well as his infectious enthusiasm shine through in every HKTWH – principle and writing. His wonderful connection with Brenda Lee is being felt by all who look at their pictures, video’s or witness a workshop. Together they offer a moment of connection, that one great feeling that we all seek for but most of us have lost somewhere in our own struggle in life.

Through sharing the HKTWH – principles, Brian and Brenda Lee show us that happiness is within our reach and that we can all live a blissful life.
